Non-Fire Burns: Burn Awareness Week
February 9, 2023Protect Your Online Identity
March 2, 2023Head Up, Phone Down
Pedestrian deaths are the only group of road users whose numbers are rising. Distracted walking [texting while walking] can have the same result as distracted driving. Put the phone down. Look where you're going. Stay safe.
Never Open the Door to Strangers
If a parent isn't home there is simply no reason for your children to open the door. No person in authority is going to your house and ringing the bell. Utility company employees should not under any circumstance be in your house without you present. Kids need to know, don't even talk to people at the door. If its important they'll come back. Stay safe.
Have a Phone in the House
Many parents don't want their kids to have smart phones. The internet/social media can be toxic. Understandable. A call for help has to be possible & many homes don't have landlines. Solution? Flip phones. Cheap and no online distractions.
Re-arm your Security System
You protect your home while away with a security system. How about your children when they're home alone? Teach them to re-arm the system immediately after they're inside. The same worries of breaking and entering apply plus now your kids are involved. Set the alarm. Stay safe.
Does your Security System Text you when your Kids get Home?
It probably can. Most current systems provide assigned disarm codes - each person in the family can have their own. You should be able to receive a text or email message each time the system is disarmed and by which code. Now you know who's home whether they remember to tell you or not. Stay safe.
